About Cassidy

Cassidy Arrington is a 22 year old poet, photographer, and videographer born, raised, and based in Philadelphia, PA. Much of their work is inspired by their experience as a queer black kid growing up without really wanting to. Their poetry has given them the opportunity to be a part of spaces like the Philly Youth Poetry Movement, WORD Performance Poetry at Yale, The Brave New Voices International Poetry Festival, Yale University Arts Gallery, and more. Through completing their BA in Ethnicity, Race, & Migration Studies at Yale College and growing up in the Philly arts and poetry scene, Cassidy has developed an intimate relationship to art as a sum, and state, of community survival. They have channeled this perspective into their photographic work, determined to depict urban Black communities, and queer communities through an ethics of care. Themes in Cassidy's photography, videography, and poetry, center intimacy and ephemera in queer adolescence and Black urbanity.
